Elucidating Euclid

I hope you won’t mind that I’m about to brag with no self-restraint at all.  This is my very favorite writing project ever, and the work I’m absolutely most proud of.  If a university were to call and ask, ‘Mr. Scopelliti, which of your works would you like us to emphasize in the presentation of your honorary Ph.D.?,’ this would be it.

I can tell you it is a romp, a stomp and an intellectual tour de force.  It is.  I’ve now told you.

Euclid’s work is, and without doubt – not a smidgen – the most important scientific or mathematical work ever written.  We’re lucky, we in the West, that we can claim it within our heritage, but we’d be fools to be too proud about that, because Euclid transcends all culture and belongs to all humans.  Well, he would, if they were simply introduced to him properly.

Few are.

Even though most education used center on Euclid, my studies lead me to believe that over the centuries, Euclid instruction rarely rose to the high bar of the work itself.  In the following 33 essays – one for each of Euclid’s initial 33 elements – I have changed this sad condition of wrongful instruction, wrongful introduction.

If you would claim Euclid for your own intellectual benefit (not to mention emotional, spiritual and transformational powers to accomplish your will in this world), then you need the introduction, and the instruction I provide you here, more uniquely and more effectively than any other of Euclid’s elucidators ever have before.

There have been some wonderful ones.  Mind bogglingly wonderful minds, inspired and guided by Euclid’s spirit, who created works of beauty and force.  I’ve even been aided by some of them.  But to my own eye, no one can give you what you’ll find here.  I will open Euclid up for you, and you will be forever changed, forever a better thinker and if you live up the gift, a better person as well.  And vastly better at problem solving in any place in your life or world you bring your newly empowered real thinking and apply it.

Which brings me to  my final point.  Yes, as I’ve made clear, you need my help.  But my help for what, again?  The actual answer is simply to learn how to think properly and there, I am not your teacher, I am just your servant.  Euclid is your teacher.  No one who does not know Euclid can think as well as he could, if he met Euclid.  It is this dramatic.  Natural thinking, the way we all do it automatically can be pretty impressive.  But, on its own, it simply cannot, it can never attain the degree of clarity, truth, yes beauty and confidence too; natural thinking without Euclid can never offer you the key to reality, that unlocks the doors on the other side of which lie truth, comprehended and useful and again, oh so very beautiful.  If you would empower your mind for truth, so you may understand things, you must have Euclid.

And as I said, to have Euclid, you need me.  Well, not me, my work here.  You need to be elucidated on Euclid and that is my job.  Now you go do your job.  Read.  Heed.  Absorb.  Work.  Work it through.  Step by step.  Work it through.  Work.  Absorb.  Heed.  Read.
